Governance Models in Sport

Centralized Versus Decentralized Systems

Some sports operate under highly centralized governance models, where a single authority controls regulations, competitions, and commercial rights. Others adopt decentralized systems, granting autonomy to leagues and clubs.

Centralization can ensure consistency but risks authoritarian decision-making. Decentralization promotes innovation but may weaken regulatory erotic enforcement.
